Negative words can hurt and often there are ways one can rephrase to give a pejorative term a positive spin. This is called reappropriation.

Why is the crant on a meat grinder larger than the crank on pencil sharpener?

It takes more energy to grind meat than it does to take off a few bits of a pencil. The crank on a pencil sharpener doesn't have to be large to spin around efficiently. If you used the same size handle on a meat grinder, you'd be grinding an ounce of hamburger for an hour before getting anywhere. It takes a larger crank to efficiently turn with enough strength to move the grinding mechanism.

Why is George Washington so honest?

To some extent, but he knew when to "spin" congress for money. Valley Forge is a perfect example. The troops were well fed, warm, and clothed that winter in 1776, but he wrote to congress that supplies were needed. The Park Service has, proven that his report to congress was not true. Washington also had affairs with officer's wives that were in his command and may have fathered a child with a slave ( this is not totally proven ). He also disliked Adams and even though he was Vice President he was ignored by Washington.

What is the difference between a US 'commonwealth' and a state?

To the best of my knowledge there really isn't one. It is a historical naming issue. In the early days of colonization, commonwealth was practically synonymous with 'republic' or 'state'. Some preferred the term because they liked the implied meaning better. But I do not believe there is any meningful distinction that differentiates a commonwealth from a state. However, in modern parlance, there is a tendency to use the term commonwealth to refer to a government with local autonomy but which is a protectorate of some other nation as is the case with US held territories like Puerto Rico. However this modern spin on the word should not be taken as implying any legal distinction between US states which are commonwealths vs states that are not.

What is meant by spin of the atomic particles as half and one?

Spin is the measure of the angle of the particle. The angle determines whether the particle is a scalar or a vector. Spin zero indicates a positive scalar; Spin 1/2 is pi/2 angle and indicates a positive vector; spin 1 is pi degrees and indicates a negative scalar; spin 3/2 indicates a negative vector.Physics Particles are Quaternions containing a scalar and vector parts, the unit quaternion is described as:cos(Angle) + v sin(Angle).Quantities in Physics are in general Quaternion, e.g. Gravitatioanl Energy W=-mu/r + cP.Bosons and Fermions represent pure scalars and Vectors with angle being multiples of pi or spin. spin is symbolic of 180 degrees spin zero is zero degrees. spin 1/2 is 90 degrees etc. When angles are not multiples of pi/2 the quantity is a Quaternion and contains a scalar (Boson) and Vector (Fermion).
