The neolithic period was the newer advance revolution to the stone age - the source of commodity that derived this period was necessity for survival via alliance or the formation of the foundation of civilizations - was alliances of various pools of talent or skills working on key tasks that is shared by the collective in order to survive. These structures gave rise to agriculture, tool making and etc. -

The commodities traded would be basic tools for a hunter and the hunter would provide the tool maker with meat. The hides from the hunter's catch goes to the tanner who trades clothing to the hunter - a wood gatherer may trade with tool maker for kindling or fuel for tool making for meat or vice versa till valuations were determined the significance that each labor provides till - a value of representation is equated as fair to develop trading tokes such as hand made tablets or shell coin the earliest forms of currency could be derived not till the end of the Neolithic period that gave rise to the bronze and copper ages where metals were processed for currency.

This period began with stone tools and ended with a development of currency - the first or foremost commodity traded was the business agreement or alliances of work for joint venture in survival. As the earliest form was a collective of hunters working together to bring down large game- the most modern form of this display was Native American Indian working together to gather buffalo in packs and seen in social alliances in nature as wolf packs will bring down prey.

They didn't trade. Trading means that you make something or grow something and they hadn't gotten to that point yet. They were still gathers and hunters.
