Romulus and Remus had an unusual childhood because a

A) They were thrown in the river Tiber in a basked when they were babies by a servant of Amulius their great-uncle to save them. Amulius wanted to kill them because he had deposed their grandfather who had been the king of the Latin city of Alba Longa. He did not want them to grow into rivals.

B) The river deity Tiberinus made the basket catch the roots of a fig tree in a swamp by the Palatine Hill.

B) They were found in a cave of the Palatine Hill (the Lupercalia) by a she-wolf (Lupa) and were suckled by her and fed by a woodpecker (Picus)

C) They were raised by a shepherd and his wife (Faustulus and Acca Larentia). They grew up as shepherds and were quite wild.

according to livy, romulus and remus spent there childhood on the kings sheperd's, Faustulus, farm, whom he gave them to his wife who was considered a local ***** whose nick name was "Wolf" and she nursed them. they would spend there young adult years working on faustulus's farm and with the flocks and began going Into the Woods and hunting. once they were not content with just the chase they attacked robbers and shared the their stolen goods with there their friends the sheperds. other young fellows joined them, and them, and the sheperds would fleet their time together, now in serious talk, now in jollity. (i took this from a book "the early history of Rome" witch is translated by the publisher "penguin classics" it is origanily writin by livy, and i managed to get this book at borders® for about 16$ not including tax.)

i hope this helps you with your question, and anything about rome i can probably answer but your early history of rome questions are easily answered thro the book (in brakets above) esp with the naming of the tiber river (a man named Tiberus drowned there) it used to be called the Albala river.
