im sorry but im not sure but you could look it up on Google I never hear this one, but if it is true it happened when Attila was young and lived in Rome under the hostage exchange program used in that time. Attila and Aetius had known each other since childhood when Attilla was a hostage of the Western Romans. Aetius also served as a hostage to the Huns and the Visigoths. After Atilla and his brother Bleda became kings of the Huns, Attila never met a Roman emperor to my knowledge.

Who was the Emperor of Roman Empire at the of the time of the invasion?

That depends on which invasion you are referring to:Between 100 to 500 CE you have several invasions of different parts of the Roman Empire:167- The tribe of the Marcomanni crosses the Danube and invades Dacia. Marcus Aurelius is co-emperor with Lucius Verus257 CE - The Franks invade Gaul and Hispania. At this time Gallienus was Roman Emperor with his father Valerian. The Franks continued as sometimes invaders and sometimes allies of the Romans on until the fall of the Roman Empire258 CE - Goths invade Asia Minor. Gallienus and Valerian were still sharing the position of Emperor.410- Rome is sacked by Alaric I, king of the Visigoths. A little prior to this time the empire was split between the two sons of the previous emperor Theodosius I. The Western empire was then ruled by his son Honorius and the Eastern empire by his son Arcadius.442 CE - Anglo-Saxons and Jutes come into conflict with the Romans forces in Britain. Valentinian III was Emperor of the Western Empire and the conflict/revolt/invasion continued under various Emperors until the Roman Empire really didn't exist anymore447 CE - Eastern Rome loses to Attila the Hun. Theodosius II, son of Arcadius is Emperor of the Eastern empire455- Valentinian III is assassinated and succeeded by Petronius Maximus as emperor. Rome is plundered by the Vandals, and Maximus is killed during mob violence. Avitusbecomes emperor of the west.476- Germanic general Odoacer kills Orestes, forces Romulus Augustus to abdicate and proclaims himself King of Italy. Traditional date for the fall of the western Roman Empire. The Eastern Roman Empire (later known as the Byzantine Empire) continues on.488-489 CE - the Ostrogoths invade and defeat Odoacer's forcesObviously there was not just one ruler for that entire period.

How did the Romans keep Atilla from attacking?

The Romans could not stop Attila from attacking the part of the empire in the Balkan peninsula by crossing the river Danube. Attila did this several times and extracted heavy ransoms. The Romans managed to stop Attila from invading Gaul by assembling an army made of Romans and their Visigoth and Frankish allies. Soon after this Attila died and the Hun empire collapsed.

Why did the Goths move into the Roman empire in the AD 300's?

Some Germanic peoples in central Europe (the Vandals and the Seuves and the Burgundians) and an Iranian speaking people (the Alans), invaded Gaul because they were seeking new lands to settle. There was population pressure on the land in this area due to what historians have called the Migration Period. A migration into an invasion of Eastern Europe by the Huns had squeezed these peoples into central Europe. In addition to this, there was pressure from Germanic peoples further north who were migrating southwards from northern Germany. Some of these peoples, the Angles, Saxons and Jutes and the Frisians from the north of the Netherlands, migrated to Britain in waves and took this island over.

Which saint faced Attila the Hun?

Pope St. Leo I - The Great. Pope from September 29, 440 to his death November 10, 461. In 452, when the King of the Huns, Attila, invaded Italy and threatened Rome, Emperor Valentinian III sent Pope Leo and two high government officials to negotiate with Attila and convince him not to attack and plunder Rome. They were successful. Attila was so impressed by Leo that he withdrew. Unfortunately Leo's intercession could not prevent the sack of the city by the Vandals in 455, but murder and arson were repressed by his influence. .

Did attila the hun ever get married?

Attila the Hun had multiple wives and several children. Attila's last wife was Hildico, a Germanic princess. Attila died on his wedding night with her, apparently choking on his own blood from a nosebleed to which the Hun king was prone, after heavy drinking. If he had not been drunk, it is speculated that he might have survived the nosebleed which caused the death of the most powerful man in the world in 453 AD. One of Attila's would-be wives was Honoria, sister to the Emperor Valentinian III, who was banished to a convent for an act of indiscretion, and she offered herself as a wife to Attila along with half of the Western Roman Empire as her dowry. This proposition sparked the largest and bloodiest battle of ancient times, the Battle of Chalons (aka the Battle of the Catalaunian Plains) in 451 AD, and one of the most decisive battles in history. The Roman general Aetius (a friend of Attila since childhood) alligned himself with the Visigoths and other German nations, fighting Attila to a tactical draw which resulted in a strategic victory for the Romans. Anyone interested in Attila should see the 2001 miniseries "Attila" starring Gerard Butler, and the 1954 movie "Sign of the Pagan" starring Jack Palance which covers the year of Attila's life (452 AD) omitted by the later TV production. Neither story is completely accurate, but both give a feel for life in the sagging years of Roman civilization, and they may incite the viewer to read about this fascinating era.

Who was a Roman Princess?

Aelia Pulcheria was the sister of the Eastern Roman emperor Theodosius II. Theodosius was a weak ruler who did not take much of an active part in the government of the empire, but his sister Pulcheria was quite a gifted administrator. She was the one who held the actual ruling power during the long reign of Theodosius II.Galla Placidia was the daughter of an emperor, half-sister of two emperors, the wife of another emperor and the mother of yet another emperor. She was married first to a king of the Visigoths who carried her away as a captive, just another item of stolen plunder from the sack of Rome. She fell deeply in love with her barbarian king and only condescended to marry her second husband, a Roman emperor whom she merely tolerated after her one and only true love had died.Justa Grata Honoria, Roman Brat PrincessWas Justa Grata Honoria responsible for the fall of the Western Roman Empire? I highly doubt it but this claim is made by Mark S. Longo in an article titled Scheming princess behind Empire's fall. Clearly, the princess was not well behaved in trying to have her brother the Emperor killed. She also committed treason by offering to marry Attila the Hun and give half the empire to him as a wedding present. However, the Western Roman Empire was already well on its way to collapse long before Honoria was born. And Attila would have invaded anyway
