Germany still had minor defenses stationed in North Africa into 1943 but for the most part, German control in Africa was gone in late 1942.
I know this post was made already but since the question is literally the same, then the answer should be the same also.
During World War II, Germany was pushed out of North Africa once and for all in May of 1943. Large numbers of soldiers and material (including Italian forces) were lost at this time, although resistance continued from Italy's home-territories.
1939 --- The war begins as Poland falls to Germany. 1940 --- France, Holland, Belgium, Norway, and Denmark fall to Germany. Italy enters the war on the Axis side, attacks Great Britain in North Africa, and invades Greece. German invasion of Great Britain is planned but never occurs. 1941 --- In North Africa, Great Britain pushes Italy back. Germany invades Russia and reinforces Italy in North Africa. Japan enters the war on the Axis side, and the US enters the war on the Allied side. 1942 --- War seesaws in North Africa. Italy reinforces Germany in Russia. Toward the end of the year the war in Russia and North Africa turn against the Axis, and the US invades North Africa. 1943 --- Germany and Italy are expelled from North Africa. Italy surrenders to Allies and is occupied by Germany as the Allies invade. The war continues in Russia as Germany is pushed back. 1944 --- Germany holds the Allies in Italy, but Russia continues to push Germany back. The US, Great Britain, and Canada invade France. 1945 --- Germany surrenders to the Allies.
There was no D-Day in north Africa. The Allied forces had kicked Germany out of north Africa by then
Britain had to occupy North Africa in order to move up through Italy. If Germany still had control of North Africa, then German forces would come up behind Allied forces during the "Invasion of Sicily" and destroy them completly.
Hitler's decisions contributed to Germany's defeats in both Stalingrad and North Africa because Hitler refused to retreat when he already obviously lost the battle. He lost 200,000 troops to death and 80,000 nazis were captured.
Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel was the general, he was defeated by general Montgomery, a British general, in North Africa
They pushed all of the axis powers (italy, germany) out and let the people that lived there take power again.
