Most of the US Civil War battles took place in Southern territory. Many battles were in Virginia and the eastern side of the Mississippi River. Slavery was a major issue that divided the US, however, the initial conflicts that recruited Northern soldiers was the idea to keep the nation undivided. The slavery issue came to the forefront based on what US President Lincoln called a "war measure". Namely his two Emancipation Proclamations. The assertion that slavery would still exist in North America if the Confederates won their independence is misguided speculation at best.

The first battle was the battle of bull run ( or manassas as the union called it) the union won this battle.

Uhhh…WRONG!
I would consider the attack on Fort Sumter to be the first battle of the Civil War, however, First Bull Run (or First Manassas as referred to by the Confederates) was the first major engagement where organized armies from both sides faced off.
At this point in time many, many people believed that the rebellion was little more than saber rattling, and that if it did actually come to shooting, the Union would have it wrapped up in a few weeks. At Bull Run people were coming in droves from miles around to see the "battle", congressmen, senators, and Washington D.C.'s wealthy elite were packing picnics, bringing the kids and family pets, and making a Sunday outing of it. The battle proved to be an embarrassing Union defeat ending in Union forces being routed, with soldiers dropping guns and abandoning equipment, to run back to Washington as fast as they could. It was the first time many people considered that there really was a rebellion and that they really were at war. The conclusion of First Bull Run brought the stark reality that the largest, bloodiest, and most deadly battle in American history had just occurred.
The American civil war took place here in the USA between the South, or the confederate states, and the North. The North won. They were fighting mostly because the USA, Abraham Lincoln our president, wanted to make slavery illegal. Point being, if we wouldn't have won, people would (probably not but maybe) still be able to buy slaves!
The confederacy won the war but ( lost) the battle.
The bloodiest battle of the civil war was The Battle of Gettysburg...wich the union/North won
No. Neither side won.
The Confederacy won the First Battle of Bull Run.
The North won several battles during the Civil War. Three of the battles won were the Battle of Murfreesboro, Battle of Vicksburg, and the Battle of Gettysburg.
