After her recapture by her white family, Parker and her daughter Topsana (Prairie Flower) went to live with a relative. Cynthia fell into a deep depression as she missed her husband and sons. After Topsana died of fever, Cynthia, who had been improving in health, gradually stopped eating, and died of poor health in 1870.

Parker died in Birdville, Texas and was buried in Foster Cemetery near Poynor, Texas. After the death of her son Chief Quanah Parker, her body was moved to Post Oak Mission Cemetery near Cache, Oklahoma. Finally in 1957 both bodies were moved to Fort Sill Post Cemetery in Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Cynthia Ann Parker was born in Illinois but was captured by Comanches when she was about eight years old. She was adopted into the tribe. She later married Peta Nocona and had three children. The Texas Rangers found her and returned her to white family.
