The buffalo, or bison was the main species hunted by the plains tribes.
In Native Americans of the Plains did not want to live on reservations because they destroyed their way of life. Living on the reservations did not allow the freedom that they had when living on the Plains chasing the buffalo in a nomadic lifestyle.
The extermination of the buffalo herds because the Indians relied so heavily on the buffalo's for different sources, the europeans went on a buffalo killing campaign to exterminate them and their way of life.

Buffalo was their was of life. Plains indians used and ate everything on the buffalo. The bones uses as tools, fur for clothing and meat for food. When the buffalo started to decimate so did the indians.
