There are three main groups of Kikapoos in the US, and one in Mexico.
The Kickapoo Reservation in Kansas.
The Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma
The Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas.
The Mexican group lives in Chihuahua, Mexico.
There are also smaller groups scattered around the southwest, and some in Arizona.

There is no definite date as to the exact year when the Kickapoo Indians moved to Texas. Records show that they were granted land by the King of Spain in 1775, and this piece of land later became Texas.
The Kickapoo Indians signed away most of their land in Illinois in 1819.

The Kickapoo were originally woodland Indians living Wisconsin and Illinois. Eventually they were removed to Missouri and then to Kansas. Eventually many migrated to Texas and then the the mountains of Mexico. The government tried to induce many to return to Indian country in Oklahoma and some did. Others still remained in Mexico.
