Wow... that is so weird because our school did a project on different kinds of Native Americans. One of the groups that did the Great Plains had a drum, because they are said to be the "heartbeats of the earth."
Members of the Great Plains had different homes at different times of the year to follow the migration patterns of the buffalo herds, their main source of food and materials. They would have a permanent home or village during the winter months and temporary movable homes, like tepees, for following the herds during the rest of the year.
