In the era following World War II, the Communists succeeded in taking over China for several closely related reasons. Perhaps most importantly, the Communists were extremely well-organized, had mustered the support of the "common" people throughout China, and were becoming increasingly well-armed through support from the Soviet Union and other means. For another thing, the Nationalists opposed to the Communists were typically disorganized, thoroughly corrupt, apathetic to the needs of the "common" Chinese, and more interested in their personal profit than in the fate of China overall.

Originally, the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) members were also members of the Kuomintang (Nationalist Party). When the Kuomintang got a new leader they kicked out all communists so Mao (major party member in CCP) relocated to the north west of China. When Japan invaded, the leader of the Nationalist Party needed help. So he asked Mao and his army to help him. Mao did, then when they beat the Japanese, Mao turned on the Nationalists, the communist army took over and the CCP took power. On the 1st of October, 1949, Mao announced the establishment of the Peoples Republic of China. This was when China officially became communist.

communism seemed appealing to the lower class people since everyone is equal in a communist government. slowly they gained support over the country.

P.s They actually fought it out the nationlist party (democracy) had wayyy more troops then the communist party but the communists were using gureilla and won the fight. This all happened after World War 2 because communism didn't become famous till japan invaded china
