Charles X escaped to Great Britain in 1792 when the French Revolutionary Wars began. He lived in both Edinburgh and London, supported by a generous allowance from King George III. He was the last of the French Bourbons who were descendants of Henry IV.

Charles X, also known as Comte de Artois, the youngest brother of Louis XVI did not flee to England during the French revolution.

He fled to Germany and then to Italy. He did go to England, but this was a lot later, in 1830 and he did not flee. After England, he went to Prague.
