The Bolsheviks took power from the Russian Provisional Government in November 1917 (October according to the Russian calendar). At that time the Provisional Government had already replaced Tsar Nicholas II and by November it was headed by Alexander Kerensky. The Bolsheviks did not seize power from Tsar Nicholas II. The Provisional Government was set up in place of the Tsar's government to maintain order and run the country until a new constitution could be written.
If you are referring to the Bolsheviks, they were not Marxist. The Bolsheviks set up a state capitalist system in Russia, ruled by those who controlled the state.
Just about everyone did. The Left Social Revolutionaries were supportive for a while and participated in government with them but eventually they wound up being traitors essentially. The main group within Russia that fought against the Bolsheviks however was the Tsarists, they were supported by the Right SRs and the Mensheviks. They were all soon supported militarily by over a dozen other countries like the US, UK and France. After the Left SRs left them, the Bolsheviks were left by themselves.
Well, the Bolsheviks revolution was when marxists (communists) tried to take over Russia. This was bad because this meant all their powers will basically be taken away, and the Russians tried to fight them off with the Allies (Bristish (includes Canadians) and French). Hope this helps ^.^
