The story goes that he was a widower king who had just one daughter who he loved very very much - but sadly he loved money and riches more - so much, in fact, that he wished that everything he touched would turn to gold. His wish was granted as everything he touched turned into the finest pure gold. This was fine for a while as he ended up with as much gold as anyone could wish, and became very, very rich. However, he understood how foolish he was when his own daughter tragically came up to him to give him a loving hug... and immediately turned to gold. he then did not care that his daughter was turned to gold. he then went to turn more things to gold. he realized he could not eat and drink because it all turned to gold. he then asked the gods to take his power away. Apollo did so and then gave him the ears of an ass. THE END
