Ohio has only existed since it became a state in 1803 and the Shawnee people were there long before that date. So they did not "come to Ohio" - they were there first.

The Shawnee originally lived in the astern woodlands areas that became southern Ohio, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. They were waging war against the Iroquois group in the early 1600s and were gradually pushed out of their tribal lands; by about 1740 they returned but were then subjected to pressure from white settlers.

The Shawnee Indians were from Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky, as well as other parts of the United States. Now their reservations are in Oklahoma.
