Her immediate successor was King Edward, who was her oldest son and thus the Crown Prince. Edward was a popular monarch and much addicted to cigars- a well known brand bears his name to this day. Edward was crowned in l902. The Hotel Edwards in Hoboken, a still-extant hostelry, is believed to date to this time, perhaps indirectly named in His Honor.
